Christian Siriano - Youngest Ever Crain's 40 under 40
Christian Siriano, 24
Christian V. Siriano
Designer
The sassy young designer, who had just shown his first solo collection during Fashion Week, knew he needed to be more than a runway wonder to succeed in the era of the great recession. He quickly diversified, taking on design collaboration projects—creating a phone and accessories for LG Electronics, a cosmetics collection for Victoria's Secret and a line of low-priced shoes for Payless ShoeSource.
"I did these projects because I knew I'd be able to have funding," Mr. Siriano says. "After runway, people forget so quickly."
Last spring, when retailers gained the confidence to start buying again, Mr. Siriano's upscale line of cocktail frocks and red-carpet-worthy dresses was picked up by Saks Fifth Avenue. Neiman Marcus later signed on. Revenues for Mr. Siriano's company have jumped more than 75% since 2008, to nearly $1.2 million, and he expects a 40% increase this year.
The native of Annapolis, Md., who two years ago became the youngest-ever Project Runway winner, got his first taste of fashion at the age of 15 when he designed costumes for Bubbles Hair Salon's annual hairstyling competition. Mr. Siriano is now sharing his expertise: A one-hour documentary about how he made it in fashion design is scheduled to air next month on Bravo.
The young designer's success comes as no surprise to Project Runway's Tim Gunn, who says he realized within 30 seconds of meeting Mr. Siriano that he was special.
"In 29 years of teaching, I had never met a design prodigy until I met Christian," Mr. Gunn says.

Adam Lambert - Paper Mag, Beautiful People 2010
Without a doubt, Adam Lambert is the splashiest singer to ever lose on American Idol. The glammy 28-year-old has a knack for grabbing attention, from his costumes (Ziggy Stardust by way of Los Angeles) to the clubby pop-rock featured on his debut, For Your Entertainment, which went gold earlier this year. The album hit iTunes last November, and Lambert’s already released three videos to promote it—an anomaly in a time when the music industry is cutting back on such extravagances. But Lambert’s an extravagant sort of guy, the kind of performer who puts the emphasis on spectacle. “I really enjoy Gareth Pugh,” he says, discussing his go-to designers. “I like the late and great Alexander McQueen. I like Galliano. I love a Dolce & Gabbana suit. For more casual stuff, I like Diesel and Rock & Republic.” And he’s as comfortable in his clothes as he is in his role as a lightning rod for controversy, which is to be expected when you’re an openly gay megastar.
“Most of what I do doesn’t feel controversial,” he says. “I’m just the same Adam I’ve always been, and in the circles I run in, it’s not all that shocking.” Born in Indianapolis and raised in San Diego, Lambert showed a flair for the dramatic at an early age, appearing in various school theater productions; he went on to tour with a production of Hair and worked as a performer on a cruise ship for a year. That was all pre-Idol. Now he’s calling the shots, looking forward to an upcoming summer tour and hoping eventually to cross over into acting. “There’s been a void in mainstream music of a male performer who’s theatrical, campy, over the top. That’s something that used to be celebrated, and I haven’t seen that lately. So I think that’s an interesting challenge—to fill that spot.”

Adam Lambert to Perform at GLAAD Awards
Adam Lambert to Perform at L.A. GLAAD Awards!
by Michael Jensen
GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) just announced that none other than Adam Lambert would be performing at the April 17th GLAAD Awards in Los Angeles. Not surprisingly, Lambert is up for Outstanding Music Artist. Gee, I wonder if he'll win? And I bet he might even kiss a guy...
In GLAAD's press release about Lambert's performance, the glam rocker had this to say, “GLAAD has advocated for out music artists, including myself, and I am proud to be part of the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards this year. GLAAD’s work to share stories that grow acceptance and understanding about the gay and transgender community is so important in our culture today.”
GLAAD also announced that Mississippi teen Constance McMillen, whose high school cancelled prom rather than allow McMillen to go with her girlfriend, will present Wanda Sykes with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award, which goes to an openly LGBT media professional who has promoted gay visibility and equality.Source.

Stars on Ice says Johnny Weir is not "Family Friendly"
Johnny Weir Confirms 'Stars on Ice Tour' Snub: 'It's For Real'
“It’s for real. All because I am not family friendly enough. I understand I am a little outrageous but I wish I could perform for the fans...Maybe right now, just artistically and creatively, I’d love to have my own show, with musical acts, like maybe getting Lady Gaga! I don’t like to think there are any boundaries. Anytime you get men in glitter it’s flamboyant!”
